Meredith O’Connor, a New York singer, has continued to bring her anti-bullying campaign to light with her new single “Just The Thing”. Meredith has had a strong message to all her fans and the world about anti-bullying since her debut single “Celebrity” and continues to use her own fame for the benefit of others.
“Just The Thing” was officially released on iTunes on April 22 this year with 75 per cent of all proceeds donated to the Carol Galvin Foundation that helps raise funds for women in need of cancer treatment.
The song blends country, rock and pop music together for Meredith’s unique sound. “Just The Thing” depicts typical high school life with the ‘in crowd’ and outsiders but Meredith demonstrates how we should all be accepted for who we are as everyone’s quirky qualities makes life interesting.
I was lucky enough to be in contact with Meredith about the new single and her inspiration.
“I was inspired to write Just The Thing about having someone in your life who not only understands you, but loves you for your differences,” she said.
The video clip for “Just The Thing” was shot in Clarkstown High School North in New York and included participation of actual students, teachers and even the Principal. The video co-stars Luke Bilyk who plays Drew on Nickelodeon’s DeGrassi show.
“It was so much fun to shoot! The intention was to convey a dream sequence that the two main characters had throughout the video, and the “in crowd” had crazy makeup and effects to show that what is strange to some might be normal to others, but it doesn’t matter, because someone out there will love you for you.”
